I want to express my sorrow
over the heinous terrorist attack committed on September 11, 2001. My heart goes out to
the relatives and friends of the victims, especially the close
relatives.

Words seem very inadequate
at a time like this, but there is some small comfort in the support and love
shown by others.
I know how you feel, and how
impossible it seems right now to overcome this. I
lost my daughter Brooke on June 5, 2001 and the gut wrenching pain has still not
abated.
However, there were some faith strengthening words of comfort in
the Bible that were a help to me and I share them with the hope that those of
you who are suffering will find some comfort in them as well.
Jesus said, "I am the
resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies,
will come to life." John 11:25
"For this is what the
High and Lofty One, who is residing forever and whose name is holy has said: In
the height and in the holy place is where I reside, also with the one crushed
and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly ones and to revive the
heart of the ones being crushed." Isaiah 57:15
"Blessed be the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all
comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation through the comfort with which
we ourselves are being comforted by God." 2 Corinthians 1:3,4
"Do not be anxious over
anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving
let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all
thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ
Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7
"A true companion is
loving all the time, and is a brother that is born for when there is
distress." Proverbs 17:17
"When under trial, let no
one say: 'I am being tried by God.' For with evil things God cannot be tried nor
does he himself try anyone." James 1:13
"For all the things
that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance
and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope." Romans 15:4
"And Jehovah will
become a secure height for anyone crushed, a secure height in times of distress.
And those knowing your name will trust in you, for you will certainly not leave
those looking for you, O Jehovah." Psalms 9:9,10
In time may you experience
the comfort that only God can give.
Some of you may feel that
you don't know what to say to those who are suffering, but not to say anything at
all is not the answer. Don't avoid those in pain because you feel there is
nothing you can say. Just tell them how sorry you are, or just give them a hug. Those
little things can mean so much at a time like this.
Don't give up, that is the
last thing those who died would want.
